CITY OF MALOLOS – MA. GLADYS CRUZ -STA. RITA of Marilao, Bulacan was hailed as Natatanging Babae in the Province of Bulacan in the recently concluded Gawad Medalyang Ginto 2023 held last March 13, 2023 at The Capitol Gymnasium in this city.

Sta. Rita was the former President and CEO of National Power Corporation (NAPOCOR 2013-2017) and served the Provincial Government of Bulacan as Provincial Administrator for 17 years ( 1991- 2008). She is also the author of a UP Centennial book, RUNNING A BUREAUCRACY published by the University of the Philippines NCPAG in 2008. She is currently the President of Tahanang Mapagpala ng Immaculada Concepcion Foundation Inc., an orphange for abandoned elderly women. She is also the President of the Dangal ng Bulacan Foundation Inc. and Trustee of the Galing Pook Awards Foundation, Inc.

This award was conferred by the Panlalawigang Komisyon sa Kababaihan ng Bulacan (PKKB) on the occassion of Panlalawigang Buwan ng Kababaihan.

Gawad Medalyang Ginto is given to Bulakenyas who have invaluable contributions to the province and served as inspiration and movers of programs that will uplift the well being and welfare of women.

The Soroptomist International of Plaridel was awarded as the “Natatanging Samahang Pangkababaihan” and KPK Norzagaray as “Matagumpay na KPK“.

Other sectoral category winners were Mariel Lyn Biason from the town of Norzagaray as ‘Matagumpay na Babaeng Mangangalakal’, Esterlita San Miguel of Marilao as ‘Matagumpay na Babaeng Makakalikasan’ and Mary Jane Delos Isla as ‘Huwarang Babae sa Makabagong Pagnenegosyo’.

The Panlalawigang Komisyon para sa Kababaihan sa Bulacan (PKKB) led the awarding of trophies and medals for all the winners with Bulacan Gov. Daniel Fernando.

The Women’s Month and Gawad Medalyang Ginto in Bulacan were started in 1996 through the Executive Order No. 96-07 and Board Resolution No. 215 and has already awarded about a hundred Bulakenyas. ###
